Sound View Apartment Homes Groundbreaking held on February 8th.

Construction is underway of the Sound View Apartment Homes at Judson Park, which is a $23 million dollar project and consists of 64 high end residential living apartment homes. Irwin-Pancake Architects is the architect firm for the project and W. G. Clark Construction Co. is the construction company. The new residence is scheduled to open Winter of 2008.

Judson Park Retirement Community held a ceremonial groundbreaking celebration for the Sound View Apartment Homes on Thursday, February 8th under beautiful blue skies! Over 200 people were in attendance.

Robert Sheckler, Mayor of the city of Des Moines, presented during the groundbreaking program. Mayor Sheckler and the Des Moines City Manager, Tony Piasecki, participated in the groundbreaking (see photo attached). Des Moines Council Member, Susan White, City of Des Moines Building Official, Larry Pickard, and South King County Fire Marshal, Ron Biesold, were also in attendance.

Festivities included musical entertainment provided by pianist, Richard Dean and delicious hors’ devours was served during the reception. Judson Park Resident Council President and Sound View Depositor, Jimmy Walker, gave the champagne toast. Tours of community and model apartment were provided.

Judson Park Retirement Community is a continuing care community in the city of Des Moines. The community is a non-profit organization that has received and maintained national accreditation from the Continuing Care Accreditation Commission since its conception. There are over 250 residents who live on our campus and Judson Park employs more than 200 staff members.
